Cleaning, servicing and maintenance of air-conditioning Properly working air-conditioning totally depends on its maintenance. Neglecting maintenance activities will result in decreased quality of cooling and, in the end, in its failure. Regular servicing at, for example, monthly intervals includes cleaning the filters of the evaporator and condenser, cleaning the evaporator and checking whether it is unobstructed, checking the condensed vapour outflow and the measurement of temperature near the evaporator, checking the electrical connections and tightness of connections within the cooling system. A check performed every six months (if we use air-conditioning only in spring and summer–at the beginning and at the end of the “cooling season”) should include checking the pressure within the cooling system, measurement of all temperatures, checking for condenser damage and presence of corrosion). This should be generally performed by specialists. Some air-conditioners are equipped with automatic filter cleaning systems. Ultraviolet radiation removes all unpleasant smells and kills bacteria.
